Plus an important announcement

Hello reader,

Hundreds clashed with police outside the parliament complex today as part of the “People’s Revolution” against lawmakers, calling for parliament’s dissolution. Lately, the people’s representatives have seemingly lost even more touch with regular folks, especially after receiving a hefty raise by the way of a controversial housing allowance.

More on that below, as well as some stories that make us proud of this country for a change.

And now, an important announcement:

In case you haven’t noticed, I have long discontinued the Nusantara Notes annual subscription plan while keeping the monthly plan.

That said, it has been brought to my attention that Beehiiv has automatically charged annual subscribers for another year’s subscription. While some may prefer that longer (and more economical) option, I am cognizant that some would prefer not to commit to another year of Nusantara Notes.

If you fall in the latter category, I encourage you to do the following BEFORE the end of your current subscription:

- Scroll to the bottom of this email and click “Update your email preferences or unsubscribe here”
- Scroll down to “Account Options” and click “Downgrade.”

You will still have uninterrupted access to Nusantara Notes until the end of your current subscription. Once your subscription is up, you may purchase the monthly plan (or not, totally your call. But I’d certainly love it if you do).

I hope that helps. Thank you for reading Nusantara Notes!

Cheers,

Andra
