President wants to save over IDR 300 trillion from government spending this year

Hello reader,

It appears President Prabowo is looking to cut down on superfluous government spending.

Of course, we’ve seen previous presidents advise officials against unnecessary trips abroad and hotel meetings. This time, though, Prabowo is going as far as ordering limitations on these spendings with a Presidential Instruction.

Will the directive work, or is it just in our officials’ nature to milk their positions for all they’re worth? I, for one, sure hope it’ll work, as the amount of money Prabowo is looking to save from the initiative can go a long way towards other programs, such as feeding schoolchildren nationwide.
