Law's overhaul to get priority

Hello reader,

Back in 2022, before this newsletter was even around, amendments to the Criminal Code (KUHP) was all the rage back then. Despite major pushback, DPR passed KUHP, with the law coming into effect in January 2026.

Now, DPR wants an overhaul to KUHP’s complementary piece of legislation, the Criminal Procedure Law (KUHAP), to be passed before January. Will it be as controversial as KUHP? Read on for some of the proposed changes.
