Welcome to the first Nusantara Notes edition of 2025. Here’s to an even better year ahead than all that have passed.

Headlining this edition is an update to the 2022 Kanjuruhan Stadium tragedy, in which a court awarded restitution to families of victims a sum that is downright insulting. While no amount of money can ever replace a loved one, it’s still disheartening to see how little the victims’ lives were valued.
