KFC Indonesia posts huge loss

Hello reader,

I have yet to visit a city/town in Indonesia that doesn’t have at least one KFC restaurant. Where I was born, it was the first fast food restaurant to open in town, and it was the only one for the longest time.

KFC is so embedded in Indonesians’ lives that it’s hard to imagine that it wouldn’t do well from a business standpoint. Yet here we are, with the franchise holder reporting a massive loss this year. Could boycotts be this devastating?

We’ll look at the numbers in more detail in the business section below, plus other top stories such as fresh arrests of suspected terrorists and a gruesome discovery in West Bandung.

Cheers,

Andra
