Jokowi says we all wanted a new capital

Hello reader,

I’m not sure if I was anything but on the fence about the creation of a new Indonesian capital. Yet, according to President Jokowi, the whole nation was totally for the project.

For something that is so tightly woven with his legacy as the nation’s leader, Jokowi’s recent statement does perplex somewhat. Perhaps he’s dissociating himself as the sole driver from the project in case it fails. Now that we’ve come this far, I certainly hope none of it goes to waste.
