Contraceptives made available to students in new Health Law

For cultural and religious reasons, “avoid it altogether” is generally more accepted than “better safe than sorry” in Indonesia when it comes to teens and sex.

Though the government may mean well, an article in the new Health Law guaranteeing access to contraceptives for youths has sparked quite the backlash. For long, sexually progressive policies in Indonesia have been panned by critics who argue that they encourage premarital sex, and this time is no different.
