Former South Sumatra governor was serving prison sentences

Hello reader,

Alex Noerdin has had a mostly glittering political career in Indonesia, perhaps best remembered as the governor of South Sumatra. Sadly, as he passed away today, his legacy will always be tarnished by the multiple corruption cases that marked his final years.

In other news: how much are we paying for MBG, and where exactly is the money coming from? While that’s once again in the spotlight, the government has also launched a TV channel promoting the initiative. And just how many Jakartans are “mager”? Surprisingly, the number might be a lot more than you think.

Cheers,

Andra
