Ahok drags Jokowi | January 27, 2026

Hello reader,

You may remember Ahok as the loyal political ally to former president Jokowi, especially as the former served as Jakarta vice governor to the latter.

After Ahok’s controversial blasphemy conviction in 2017, Jokowi appeared to have laid a path for his old friend to return to politics, giving him the president director role at Pertamina.

A lot has happened since then and the two don’t seem to be serving each other’s interests anymore. In fact, Ahok today went as far as calling Jokowi to be investigated in a corruption case tied to Pertamina. More on that juicy story just below.
