A lesson in Osaka | June 11, 2025

Hello reader,

The Indonesian men’s football team’s journey at the third round of the World Cup qualifiers in Asia (ain’t that a mouthful?) concluded with a rude awakening: a 6-0 drubbing in the hands of Japan.

Indonesia’s path to the World Cup is not yet over, as we now must face other Asian giants in the fourth (and last) round of qualifiers. Even if we get there, last night serves as a reminder that Indonesia, despite our somewhat successful and extensive player naturalization program, is simply not good enough yet.
