Pilkada winners inaugurated

Hello reader,

All of the drama from the regional elections (Pilkada) of November (arguably the second most important set of elections in Indonesia last year) led to this: the simultaneous inauguration of the 961 winners.

That is an extraordinary amount of handshakes President Prabowo had to go through in one go. He seems to be happy, though, calling the ceremony a historic moment for Jakarta. More on that below.

Here’s hoping the new appointees don’t disappoint. Not holding my breath, though.
